NOAA Hurricane Tracks (IBTrACS)

Global tropical cyclone best-track data from NOAA's International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (IBTrACS).

Record Types

  • Storm — name, season, basin, peak intensity (wind/pressure), date range, track point count
  • Basin — ocean basin code and description (NA, EP, WP, NI, SI, SP)
  • TrackPoint — sampled 6-hour observation: position, wind, pressure, status

Scope

Covers the last 3 years of global tropical cyclone activity. Track points are sampled (every 4th observation per storm) to limit collection size.
